Summitto is an award-winning Amsterdam based start-up which has been funded by the Horizon 2020 programme and has been recognized by receiving a “Seal of Excellence” certificate from the European Commission. We build open source Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software for tax authorities to help them digitalise VAT and increase VAT revenue in a secure and business friendly way.
Summitto has presented to governments all over the world and has emerged as a knowledge partner to officials from the European Commission, Ministries of Finance and many more institutions.

Combining Modern Technology and Real-Time Invoice Reporting to Combat VAT Fraud: No Revolution, but a Technological Evolution
In order to execute our extraordinary fraud prevention mechanism, we are building an extraordinary company. Our values ensure that we achieve our goal to eliminate the VAT Gap.
Transparency has many benefits, if implemented the right way. By being transparent on how data is used, we allow central authorities to become accountable without requiring companies to reveal the underlying data.
The only way to build a truly secure and private system, is by taking this into account from day one. In this way, we are radically different from other registration solutions.
Technology makes it possible to overcome certain boundaries, certain dilemmas. Technology is our extended mind, as futurist Jason Silva often says.
We set goals for ourselves, don’t shy away from estimates, and objectively assess success.
Even with the risks involved of building high-load software, we don’t shy away from holding ourselves accountable at every stage.
We’re part of a broader engineering community that cares about us. We blog, open source useful frameworks, give talks, and share what we build beyond our walls.
We respect each other, trust each other to deliver, humbly challenge each other to improve, and help one another. And we extend this same respect and empathy to our users. We combine the head and the heart.
We don’t compromise our values when moving forward. If it’s worth fighting for, share it. But also listen, seek conflicting opinions, and flex in the face of new info.
We’re a mission-driven team with an attention to detail that obsesses over our impact - on taxpayers, tax administrations, and on teammates. We keep our cool and make use of every measure possible to make our service reliable.
Everything we build is in service of the positive impact we can make on society.
